Partnership Members

We are still part of the local authority family of schools, but we acquired a charitable trust to help the drive for improved standards in education in the area. The Co-operative School Trust model enables schools to set themselves up as co-operatives, following co-operative values and principles and allowing those who are directly involved in them – parents/carers, staff, governors and learners – to become engaged in its long-term strategic direction through membership of the Trust. This will also allow other members of learners’ families and the wider community to become involved.  There are many ways to show your commitment to the education of the young people in the area, and many ways to get involved in different aspects of your local school’s work;  join a primary school PTA, become a member of the Tiverton High School Alumni Network, be a School Governor or if you have your own ideas, then get in touch.  Education of our young people should be by their whole community.  That is being a Member of the Tiverton Co-operative Learning Partnership.

If you would like more information on any aspect of how you can show your commitment to Tiverton’s schools, please contact us.

Castle Primary

Castle Primary school is a community school in the heart of Tiverton; being part of the co-operative enables us to build close community links and share good practice with other schools both in Tiverton and the surrounding area. Our learning behaviours are central to all we do at school. The children, staff and parents have played an integral role in defining these, and they now shape our learning activities and expectations for the attitudes of the children and staff.

Tiverton High School

Tiverton High School (THS) stands on the edge of the town, near the A361.  With approximately 1300 students and 200 staff, the site is a bustling place.  THS is the feeder secondary for all TCLP primaries. We work closely with our primary colleagues to ensure a smooth transition to high school.  Whilst here, we guide our students to GCSE level with quality teaching and a variety of enhancement opportunities for all.  We aim to raise aspirations and ensure that each young person moves on with the knowledge they need to take their next steps in education.  Close links with Petroc, with whom we share a campus, means that many of our students can have a taste of college life before leaving school.  Our ever growing Alumni network ensures that former students have a pathway to keep in touch and come back to support the school in many ways in their adult life.  Our moto is ‘At the Heart of the Community’ and we take that very seriously, getting involved in many local events and even organising our own yearly festival for the town, with the help of TCLP colleagues, which takes place on our fields each July.

Tiverton Community Arts Theatre (TCAT)

Tiverton Community Arts Theatre (TCAT) was established in 2012 by a group of local people who had a love of the Arts.   The Tiverton High School auditorium is a wonderful space, and was being underutilised outside of the normal school day.  A committee was established to operate the space as a theatre, and the programme of events has increased over the years.  TCAT is now a registered charity and brings a variety of live music, plays and comedy to the town, as well as providing a useful space for community groups to hire to hold their own events. Details of upcoming events can be found at their website www.TivertonTheatre.com
